Healthy Gaming Habits: Breaks, Posture and Eye Care
Published October 2026 · Temple Dash Team
Games are a great hobby, and a few simple habits keep them that way. These tips are useful for anyone who plays on a phone or computer.
Follow the 20-20-20 rule
Every twenty minutes, look at something about twenty feet away for twenty seconds. This relaxes the eye muscles and reduces dryness and strain.
Sit with support
Keep your back against the chair and your feet flat on the floor. On a phone, avoid bending your neck for long periods; raise the device closer to eye level.
Rest your hands
Fast tapping and swiping tire the thumbs. Stretch your fingers and wrists between rounds, and stop if you feel pain or numbness.
Adjust the brightness
A screen that is far brighter or darker than the room causes eye strain. Match it to your surroundings, and use night mode in the evening.
Drink water and move
Long sessions make it easy to forget both. Keep a glass of water nearby and stand up for a short walk every hour.
Set a limit
Decide in advance how long you will play, and use a timer. Games should fit around sleep, study and family time, not replace them.
If you feel tired, irritated or stressed while playing, that is a good sign to stop for the day. A short, relaxed round of a game like Temple Dash is better than a long, tiring one.
